Cape Town Cycle Tour(Argus)-How to Get Ready For It

With the Cape Town Cycle Tour around the corner, your preparations for the competition are probably in full flow. To help you with your upcoming Cycling Tour in Cape Town, we have listed some preparation tips in this blog post. Let’s find out what they are:

Get your body clock in check:

Yes, body clocks can be tuned, but not overnight. A week before the competition, start following a routine of waking up, having breakfast & getting your ablution done at the same time as you will need on race day. If you have been practicing the majority of your training in different time zones, try a session in the morning once or 2 times the week before so those first climbs out of Cape Town does not come as an absolute shock!

Cycling Vacations

Don’t over exert the carbo-loading:

Jumping on pasta for 3 days is not a good idea. There’re a lot of myths regarding carbo-loading & several people overdo it. Taking a balanced meal on Saturday night is just as critical as on any other day of the week. Yes, you’ve got to stock up on fuel for the long cycling day ahead, but at the same time you also require plenty of minerals, vitamins and proteins as well. More importantly avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to the event – save it for later.

Have a realistic game plan:

You must have a ballpark idea of the kind of time you are aiming for! Your race pack comes with a very useful breakdown of the split times required for different checkpoints throughout the route, to enable you to achieve this. If is fair to presume you will go a little faster than you usually do on your own but keep in mind that the toughest part of the route comes at the end, so don’t exhaust all your energy in the first half chasing impractical targets. Fine tune your anticipated times as per the conditions that await you on the day.
